What are Replacement Windows?

We get it: when our technicians start talking about a “retrofit window”, people’s eyes start to glaze over. They’re not really sure what that means. We want to help you understand exactly what retrofitting your windows entails and how  replacement windows for your home can not only help increase its value and curb appeal, but also help you save money on your energy bills as well.

A retrofit window goes over the existing window on the outside. Before we install your replacement windows, we add foam insulation in order to isolate the aluminum from your old windows. Then we put vinyl trim on the inside in order to cover the foam insulation. With this process, you would never be able to tell that the old aluminum is there. Voila! You’ve got a brand new window.

Types of Replacement Windows

Replacement Windows can also help make your home more interesting. One strategy to beautify your home — particularly in the front of the house — is to add bay or bow windows. A bow window comes out from the house, giving it a more three-dimensional appearance that can transform the look of your home.

Many homeowners have simple sliding windows in their kitchen. Greenhouse windows can help transform your old windows and your entire room. Greenhouse windows are much more energy efficient than they’ve ever been before. Not only are they easy to install, they’re surprisingly affordable as well!

But bow windows and greenhouse windows aren’t your only options! At Save Energy, we offer a full line of window replacement options, from awning windows, casement windows, picture windows, and more!

Even if your home has one of those funky, geometric windows, we can custom build a modern replacement window with a contemporary feel that is perfect for your home. Stop by our showroom to have a look at our window options and to speak with our staff about building a custom replacement window that is perfect for your home!

If problems arise, we’ll be there!

Not every project goes smoothly. In some cases, our technicians may find dry rot behind your old windows during our installation. If the rot isn’t too bad, we can do the dry rot repairs ourselves. But in cases where the rotting is more extensive, you may need to hire a structural contractor in order to repair the damage.

When we find dry rot behind your windows, we will let you know about the problem before proceeding with our work so that it can be dealt with correctly.
